Ideas for International Human Rights Presentation

Major influences in human right history: Nelson Mandela

Sources: Book- Long Walk To Freedom

I am interested in doing something along the lines of Nelson Mandela and South Africa because I saw the movie Invictus and it was very interesting. I would so far focus on how Nelson Mandela played a major role in Human Rights. Then, once I learn more about it I would then make my topic more specific.

or I want to find an organization that played a major role in human rights

I am still researching organizations to do. Human Rights Watch is an interesting organization that deals with tons of issues. FoodFirst Information and Action Network is really interesting because it is an organization the advocates the right to food for more than 20 years. I am still looking for other organizations.

I think that you could find some very interesting stuff about the apartheid in South Africa. Nelson Mandela has enough interesting things about him that you could talk for days, so maybe you look at his influence but if you enjoyed the movie Invictus than maybe you look at how the rugby team helped South Africa. You sounds like you are off to a good start though, just make sure that once you pick something it is narrow enough for a five minute presentation because both Nelson Mandela and the Apartheid have enough research and information about them that you could talk for hours.

Good idea! I agree with Sammie -- you could talk about how the rugby team could have helped end some human rights violations, or the differences before and after they became so successful. You can look at an organization and see what effect they have had. You can talk about what rights that Nelson Mandela had violated too, and what he did about it.
